In August 2013, Lloyd’s Register has launched the free PED Category Selection App for IOS and Android, which comes to help manufacturers evaluate compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive.
The PED EC directive is known for its complex regulatory process in comparison with other directives, such as the LVD or EMC. However, the PED Category Selection application enables manufacturers to assist their road to compliance by classifying pressure equipment in accordance with PED Article 9 and determining which conformity modules apply, as set out in Annex II of the Pressure Equipment Directive. With a few clicks, anyone can determine the available options for PED certification.
The application also allows contact with Lloyd’s Register experts who can help with more detailed information.
PED Selection Category Features:
- Simple inputs, such as design pressure, volume, nominal size PED category and modules displayed based on type of equipment, fluid and phase
- Description of the manufacturer’s and Notified Body’s separate responsibilities in each module
- Displays where pressure equipment sits on the appropriate PED table
- Quick methods to contact Lloyd’s Register and locate your nearest PED expert
With a user-friendly interface and four available languages (English, Chinese, Spanish and Dutch), the PED Category Selection application gives manufacturers the needed confidence and reassurance that they are on the right road to meet compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive.
The PED Category Selection application is available now for free on the Apple App store and in the Google Play Android store.
Please watch this excerpt from an interview that Han did with Robin Pickup if Lloyd’s Register about their iPhone and Android app that guides users through the European Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC). A very useful app, that we can highly recommend.
