EU No Longer Priority Market For Medical Device Manufacturers

According to a poll from Boston Consulting Group, the United States has surpassed the European Union as the most important market for medical device makers, with 89 percent of MedTechs planning to prioritize the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval in the future.

List of Standards for Machinery Updated

On July 11, 2014 the European Commission has published an updated list of European harmonized standards that pertain to the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) in the Official Journal of the European Union. Besides updates to existing standards, this list (2014/C 220/01) also contains 16 new standards.

Three New European Standards will improve safety of internal window blinds

CEN, the European Committee for Standardization published three new European Standards, which come to help improving the safety of internal window blinds and reduce risk to children. These standards are aimed in particular at reducing the risk of accidents associated with the cords that are used to operate window blinds.
